When You’re Not Sure What’s Real Anymore

One-on-one support for people trying to understand controlling, manipulative, or emotionally abusive relationships — and figure out what comes next.

Maybe you’ve spent months — or years — questioning yourself.

Was it really abuse?
Was I too sensitive?
Did I misunderstand?
Was it actually my fault?
Why do I still miss this person if the relationship hurt me so much?
Why can’t I explain what happened without sounding irrational?

Emotional abuse is often difficult to recognize precisely because it rarely begins with something dramatic. It can look like concern. Protection. Love. Advice. Humor. Jealousy. Criticism disguised as honesty.

Over time, you may stop trusting your own perception.

That is where clarity matters.

You don’t have to have the right label to know something is wrong

What I offer

I work one-on-one with people who are trying to understand what happened in a confusing, controlling,

or emotionally abusive relationship — whether they are still in it, recently left, or are trying to make sense of it years later.

This is not about diagnosing your partner.

It is about looking at patterns of behavior, how those patterns affected you, and what you need now.

Together, we can talk through things such as:

  • gaslighting and chronic self-doubtrepeated blame shifting

  • sudden withdrawal or discard

  • trying to understand why you stayed

  • rebuilding confidence in your own judgment

  • deciding what boundaries you need now

  • finding your voice again after years of being silenced

  • criticism disguised as concern

  • control presented as love or protection

  • isolation from friends or family

  • financial or emotional manipulation

  • walking on eggshells

This is not only a women’s issue

Women experience emotional abuse. Men experience emotional abuse.

Manipulation, coercive control, humiliation, isolation, and gaslighting are not confined to one gender.

I welcome women and men who are trying to understand an unhealthy or abusive relationship — without judgment and without assumptions about what a victim is “supposed” to look like.

Why me?

I didn’t learn about emotional abuse from a textbook first.

I lived it.

For years, I interpreted control as love, criticism as concern, and increasingly disturbing behavior as something I simply needed to understand better.

Only afterward did I begin to recognize the pattern.

I know what it is like to look back at events that once seemed disconnected and suddenly see how they fit together.

Sometimes another person can see the pattern before you can.

That experience became the foundation of my books, Death Is No Reason to Stop Living, and of the work I now do around emotional abuse, coercive control, survival, and rebuilding afterward.

What a session looks like

There is no script.

You tell me what is happening — or what happened — and we work through it together.

You may come with one specific question:
“Was this manipulation?”

Or with years of history that you still cannot quite make sense of.

My role is not to tell you what decision to make. It is to help you separate behavior, fear, guilt, obligation, and reality — so you can make your own decisions from a clearer place.

A note about coaching

I am not a therapist, physician, attorney, or crisis counselor. My work is based on lived experience, education, perspective, and one-on-one support.

Coaching is not a substitute for mental health treatment, medical care, legal advice, or emergency services.

If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a crisis, please seek appropriate professional or emergency support in your area.

What I offer is a private space to talk, recognize patterns, regain clarity, and consider what comes next.

You don’t have to figure it out alone.
